It seems like Citroen has a lot more plans for the C3 hatchback with regard to more variants in the future. The French carmaker confirmed a while ago that the C3 will get the option of an automatic transmission sometime next year and also an EV which will be based on the hatchback. Now, a larger version of the C3 has been spotted which gets the option of 7 seats. Let’s take a look at what we can expect from it:

The new 7-seater is likely to be called the C3 plus or C3 Aircross. The front resembles the C3 in terms of design. The bonnet tapers towards the bottom to aid visibility and help in providing a commanding driving position. It gets split LED headlamps with a typical Citroen double slat grille. The LED DRLs merge with the grille neatly. It also features black cladding all around for a rugged look. Move to the side and you will notice the increase in the length. The wheelbase of 2450 mm is expected to be similar to the C3 to keep the costs in check. The ground clearance of 180mm is expected to be the same as well. The rear overhang seems to be extended to accommodate the extra row of seating.

The rear will feature the familiar set of rectangular taillamps which we’ve seen on the C3. The interiors of the 7-seater are expected to be exactly the same as the C3. Talking about the interiors of the C3, the center stage is taken up by the 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay. It gets a colored dashboard with patterns to make it look funky. One quirk of the C3’s interior is the placement of the rear power window switches which are positioned where rear A/C vents would usually be placed. It gets manual air-conditioning, steering-mounted audio controls, and a digital instrument cluster.

The Citroen C3 has two petrol engine options. A 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine. Citroen is likely to pick the turbo petrol engine for the extra power that it offers. The 1.2-liter 3-cylinder turbo petrol produces 109hp and 190nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and returns a mileage of 19.4 km/l in the C3. When launched, the 7-seater C3 will compete with the likes of the Maruti Ertiga and Renault Triber.
